"Fall" in love

As much as I love the care free lazy days of summer, lately I have been
dreaming of Fall.

I had a taste of a few cool mornings last week.

The sun is changing directions and fills the house with a new glow.

The garden is breathing a sigh of relief from the summer heat.

Fall catalogs started to arrive - do I need some new boots?  YES!

I found myself thinking about Fall.

And the most important

It's easy to take for granted the changing of the seasons.

I love the change, it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Here's to fresh breath of Fall!!!

I hope you enjoyed all these beautiful Fall pictures.  All photos are from

"City Mouse" or a "Country Mouse" ?

I have had a very busy summer.  Most of it spent traveling to NYC with my son.  The first few times were spent helping him find an apartment (not an easy task!) and then finally moving him in (an even harder task!)  My first few impressions of New York, were not too favorable (I'm being nice here)
it was,
too big
too loud
too congested
and
tooooo many people!

As I followed my son around, feeling like the
child following his parent (because he knew where he was going!) I kept thinking to myself,
"Why do people choose to live here?"
It wasn't until after we finally had him moved in, that I could relax and begin to take it all in, and
begin to appreciate what so many others do.  We visited interesting neighborhoods, Battery Park & Chelsea Pier, we had breakfast in Tribeca,  dinner in Soho, and walked down the brick streets surrounding Wall street.  I was is awe of the huge American Flag hanging above the stock exchange!
Finally, I was starting to appreciate and enjoy this place!  I was all ready in love with Chicago, would
I start to feel this way about New York?
Could I be a "City Mouse?"

This past weekend my husband and I finally took a  DESPERATELY needed weekend away.
We traveled up to Petosky to visit friends, and relax!!
Northern Michigan is such a beautiful part of the state, and I couldn't wait to have a glass of good wine and watch the sunset over Lake Michigan.  Also I couldn't wait to do some shopping,
Northern Michigan never disappoints me there!
One stop I wanted to make was in Leland to see the shop of a local tile artist "Leif Sporck"
I purchased some of his beautiful tiles at a local art fair, and wanted to check out his shop.
On our way, we saw a sign "Sporck tiles" turn here.  So we turned into the gravel
drive and here it was.
This is what was inside
All his beautiful tile work, in this small wooden shack
(I think he lived in the house next door)
Kind of strange, nobody there.. The sign said OPEN,
Then we saw this.

What?
So I gathered up my purchases, and left the money in a tin as instructed.
(I was not the only shopper either!)
As I was deciding on my purchase, I kept thinking to myself,
"This would NEVER happen in New York!"
Nobody would leave their shop open, and let shoppers self-serve!

Somehow the hustle and bustle of New York, seemed a million miles away,
this is what I love!
I am a "Country Mouse!"
Thank you "Leif" for bringing me back.
I know I will still visit NYC, and probably have a good time, but I know where my heart is.

Are you a "City Mouse" or a "Country Mouse?"
